Dear Local 3005 Members,
Given a number of queries, the Election Committee (“EC”) wants to provide an update on the Local election and balloting.
Local 3005 member should be receiving, or be in receipt, of their ballots from the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”). Please follow the instructions included with the ballot. The ballot count will be on Thursday, May 29 at the offices of AAA.
The EC is aware that there are spelling errors in the names of two candidates on the ballot. The name of “Jonah Baurista” for Secretary should be “Jonah Bautista”. And the name of “Wendlyne Guerrier” for Treasurer should be “Wedlyne Guerrier”. It is the expectation of the EC that these errors will not impact the outcome of the election and given the cost (both financial and in terms of delay) the election will proceed.
To address a couple of specific questions: In terms of voting for either of these two candidates, a vote will be counted for the listed candidate regardless of any spelling error on the ballot. There is no need for anyone to make a spelling correction on the ballot. However, if a ballot has been submitted with a hand written correction of either of the two candidates names the EC intends to allow such a vote to be counted.
Voters with missing or damaged ballots will be directed to request replacements by calling AAA’s Duplicate Hotline 1-800-529-5218 Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This number is to be utilized only for duplicate ballot requests. Members may also make requests by e-mailing Sacha Ulerio at [email protected]. Voters are asked to call no earlier than one week after the mailing date (ballots were mailed on May 9) to allow sufficient time for the delivery of all ballots.
If there are questions these can be directed to the Election Committee: [email protected]
Thank You,
The Election Committee
